Video Analysis - FAQ

Q: Does this service undermine the player's coach?
A: Not at all.  Video analysis is different from coaching.  Coaches and players can use it together to assess progress and make goals.  Also, video analysis can be used by the coach and player to provide an independent assessment of ability and progress.

Q: Will the analysis be too good/too simple for my level?
A: When we first view your video we make a quick assessment on general standard.  Based on this we choose a marking scheme appropriate to you.  For example, the jump smash currently has two marking schemes - basic and advanced.  This means that beginners are not presented with information that they cannot make use of, and higher standard players can concentrate on the the finer points.

Q: Do I need a professional quality video camera?
A: No.  All our trials were done with consumer quality digital camcorders.  If you are able to provide higher quality video (e.g. high frame rates) then please email us and we can arrange to analyse it.

Q: How should I take the video?
A: See the general and shot specific guides in the documents section.

Q: What payment options do you provide?
A: You can pay either online via credit/debit card or by a cheque drawn on a UK bank.  See application form for details.

Q: Do you offer discounts?
A: We can offer a discount for several analyses (e.g. for a group).  Please email us with the number of analyses needed and we can make you a quote.
