Allow we recommend not suppressing inflammation, the repair process can be augmented by practitioners. Here are some techniques to be applied in general:
- Initial rest - whilst the injured site is unstable, complete rest of the area is recommended until it becomes stable.
- Functional recovery - research is starting to support the use of functional recovery. Once the injured site has recovered to the point of being stable enough to use, a course of progressive usage can be followed to speed up recovery and improve outcome. The benefit is probably due to the usage promoting repair and hypertrophy instead of extensive atrophy which is the risk of long term rest. When we have sourced a reliable treatment plan we shall upload it to these pages.
- Surgery - surgery can often be seen as an engineers approach to treating the body. Because injuries are so mechanically expressed, surgery can be useful. For example, completely ruptured tendons can be sewn back together, ligaments may be supported with carbon fibre, etc... We shall soon upload specific recommendations for when to seek surgery and what to ask for.
