the 3rd list of options for the PDFBL league vote

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the 3rd formulation and hopefully the last with David Lloyd Ringwood 1 re-joining the league. Thank you for your patience.

Since Gavin Dalrymple (Vice Chairman of PDFBL) and I formulated the options for this year’s AGM regarding how the league will be formed for the forthcoming season 2019/2020. There have been 3 more clubs withdraw from the league which makes a considerable difference to the options available. There are now 5 options which are:

a) Staying as the league is, playing matches home and away twice with 2 divisions of 5 teams, and 1 division of 6 teams. Promotion being 1 up and 1 down. (16 matches for division 1 and 2, and 20 matches for division 3).

b) 3 divisions, 2 divisions of 5 teams and 1 division of 6 teams playing home and away once, with promotion of 1 up and 1 down. (8 matches division 1 and 2 and 10 matches for division 3).

c) 3 divisions, 2 divisions of 5 teams and 1 division of 6 teams, playing home and away once with promotion of 2 up and 2 down. (8 matches division 1 and 2 and 10 matches for division 3).

d) Creating 2 divisions of 8 teams playing home and away once with promotion being 2 up and 2 down. (14 matches).

e) Creating 2 divisions of 8 teams playing home and away once with promotion being 1 up and 1 down. (14 matches).

We assumed 18 teams for the formulation of these leagues when we first formulated the new leagues, and as all the 3 teams leaving the league where in the bottom division it was just a case of removing them and realigning the remaining teams in the league. As a reminder first we created the new league playing 2 home and 2 away by removing FSRC, Bournemouth Eagles 1 and David Lloyd Ringwood 1. Then we did the promotions and demotions (1 up and 1 down per division) to create the new league for playing home and away twice, see league options below created from that league we arrived at.

The League staying as it is but with only 3 divisions (playing home and away twice)

We have built the leagues to have more teams in the lower division to give more matches to the teams in these divisions as the top sides have access to more badminton via county matches and tournaments. When you are making your choice bear in mind the future of the league and what is good for competitive mixed doubles badminton.

At the AGM each club will get one vote and the person voting will be voting for the wishes of their club. The way the vote will work is the first vote will be “do you wish the league to remain as it is playing 2 games at home and 2 away?” Yes or No. If No then the next vote will be “do you wish to play 3 divisions of 5, 5, and 6 teams or 2 divisions of 8. The final vote being whichever format is chosen, “do you wish promotion to be 1 up and 1 down or 2up and 2 down”. If you have any questions regarding this vote, please call me on 07766193752.

I have updated the leagues in this message following the withdrawal of:
